Page last edited: | Band of the month - December 2009Our band of the month for December 2009 is from Leicester: Azidify
Azidify: after 3 singers and a bassist that just didn’t work out, we stuck as James on vocals and guitar gained a new awesome bassist (Mitch) and another amazing guitarist (Dom),so now we stay a solid four piece with James Tomlinson -guitar/vocals, Dom Godchild - guitar/vocals, Mitch Eato, bass/vocals and Carlton Jnr Parr - drums. This was when the true Azidify was formed in September time in 2009. All this happened by knowing each other at school and through friends. We have surprised many other older bands with the amount of talent for our age as we are the youngest band at most gigs, and have many compliments on our instrumental work, stage presence and the crazy performance! , we are 15/14 years old, but we don’t let that get in the way, we get up there and own the stage!!! Arts in: When did the band play its first gig? How did it go?
Arts in: What’s the best gig you have played so far? What was good about it? Azidify: A hard decision but the best gig was at the Shed on the 14th of November just because our mates from Bloodstruck organized the day, everybody we knew came down and we knew all the other bands so we just all went crazy on stage, and off, we had a pile on, on stage?!... Mitch jumped of stage into the mosh pit! (crazy stuff) and also got great compliments about our amazing guitar harmonies and sick drum beats. Arts in: Who writes the songs in your band? How do you go about making a new song?
Arts in: What recordings have you done so far? What work have you got coming up in the studio? Azidify: We’ve done some recording in our practice garage with a crappy mixer and audacity, but we have organised a recording session on the 12th of December with the sound recorder from Beauchamp Collage so we shall have professional recordings on MySpace soon. We are striving towards are first album and will be ready early 2010. Arts in: Which other Leicester bands do you like? Azidify: We enjoy listening to other local Leicester bands like our selves because we get influenced on the older bands but we can also improve on what they do wrong. The main bands we enjoy are Smoking the Profit, Acoda, Bloodstruck, Kicking Habits, Doctor Princess, Weekend Schemers and Jukebox Junkies (Rugby band) and many more. Arts in: What's your favourite venue in Leicester? Azidify: Our favourite venue would be the Shed because we have played there many times and are used to the stage and people. We have also done many gigs at different venues; such as the Sun Bar, Crows Nest, Sumo, the Railway, the New Inn, Groby Collage and the Pavilion. We were impressed with the sound quality at Sumo and liked the atmosphere at the Crows Nest. Arts in: Which bigger bands have had the most influence on the development of your music style?
Dom good-child guitarist influence: Phil Demmel, Darrel Dimebag, Slash, Jerry Cantrell Carlton Jnr Parr’s drummer influence: Mike Portnoy, John Dolmayan, Ray Luzier, Vinnie Paul, Matthew McDonough and Nicko McBrian. Mitch Eato bass influence: the Ramones, Sex pistols, Bullet for my Valentine. Band influence: The Ramones, System of a down, Limp bizkit, God forbid, Slayer, Rage against the machine. Faith no more, the Doors, Mudvayne, Korn, Scars on Broadway, Disturbed, Seether, Rammstein, Pantera, Soil, Alice in chains, Kill switch engage, Dream theatre, Sex pistols, Machine head, Nirvana, Guns and roses, In flames and Bring me the horizon. Arts in: Why is Azidify such an amazing band? Azidify: Crazy stage performance, amazing instrumental work, ear-drum piercing guitar riffs and solos, crazy, sweet drum beats, awesome, strong bass lines, and best of all were the band that is bring metal back to Leicester, were getting sick of the indie bands and stand still on stage and sing about false love and girls. Were AZIDIFY That’s why were awesome! Arts in: Explain how you chose the name of the band? Azidify: Well, funny story! Carlton our drummer drank out of a science beaker (water), teacher went crazy saying he will die because there could be acid in the beaker, James shouted out you’ve been acidified, later on we thought that’s a pretty good band name but it was taking. James was listen to Limp bizkit and in outro they say were cool because we have a Z in our name, so we came up with AZIDIFY. Arts in: what do you think of Kasabian? Azidify: We think they are a good path to follow and a good influence we would love to become big like them ... hopefully bigger
