Leicester Live Music photographic Exhibition

Our exhibition of photographs of artists playing live music in Leicester, opened at the Red Tent on Friday 20th January 2012. Over 30 people came to the launch including the photographers, some of the artists shown in the pictures and representatives of local art galleries, music, poetry and a photographer from the Leicester Mercury.

The exhibition can be viewed free of charge when the Red Tent is open. Ask at the bar if you want to see the collection which is housed in the Gallery across the rear courtyard.

The Exhibition runs through to 25th February. Thereafter the pictures will tour round various Leicester venues for the rest of this year.

Speaking at the launch event, Artsin Director Trevor Locke said "We were pleased that 147 photos were submitted to the online collection. The standard of photography was really high. There were some cracking shots amongst them. The selection panel had a challenging job to pick 20 out of these.

"The 20 photos that we can see now in the gallery are a good cross section of the live music scene of Leicester. Together they portray the imagery of what live music is like."

The photographs were all taken by local photographers and show the variety of live music in Leicester. Twenty pictures will be on display, selected by a panel of judges for both their photographic quality and to reflect the wealth of imagery associated with the live music scene.

147 photos were submitted and these can all be viewed on-line on the Flickr Gallery. 20 photos were selected from this collection and were printed and mounted for the exhibition.
