Venue

LE1 3AL. Please see the map below, right hand column. The Bar hosts the events.
Promoter
The Promoter for these events is ArtsinLeicestershire (Trevor Locke).
Bookings
All bookings for bands playing on Wednesday evenings at the Sun Bar are taken by Trevor of ArtsinLeicestershire. To enquire about a date call Trevor on 07970 680 987 or complete the form on our contact page.
Band contact details
To get a booking at the Sun Bar shows, your band must be registered with Get Your Band On.
Payment
Bands will be paid £2 for every flyer handed in at the door. Your fans don't need to have elaborate flyers; just a bit of paper with the name of your band on it and we will pay your band in cash at the end of the night. If fans turn up without a flyer we will ask them which band they support and keep a count. Proceeds from tickets sales will be used to pay the bands and to help fund publicity and promotion for the shows. The door money does not go to the venue.
If your band provides a core drum kit for use by all other bands on the night, you will get £3 per ticket sold against your band.
Door Charge
There will be a door charge of £3 per person. This charge is to raise money to pay the bands and to help with the cost of publicity and promotion for the shows..
Fans
Bands must commit to bringing at least 10 fans at £3 a head to support the shows. Please ask your fans tro arrive between 8 pm and 8.30
The shows will not initially have a walk-in audience. As the shows progress, this might change. But initially, we will be dependent on bands helping to get in a crowd. If your band brings NO people down to support you, we will not re-book your band and you will not get paid anything. If you bring 10 or more people down, we will gladly rebook your band for a future show.
Lineup positions
We will not usually decide the line-up till all the bands have arrived at the venue. We would encourage bands to ask their fans to arrive between 8 and 8.30 and to stay for the whole show and not just for their band's set. Publicity and promotion
Arts in Leicestershire will do everything they can to publicise these shows. We will push the nights on the Internet, print posters, make sure the shows get listed in newspapers and magazines, and work closely with local radio stations to ensure that as much publicity is achieved as we possibly can.
Sound checks
Bands are asked to arrive at the venue between 6.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you think your band might arrive later than 7 p.m. please phone the number you will be given in your booking confirmation. Sound checks will begin at 7 p.m.
Parking
When you arrive in Churchgate, please make sure you park in a "loading bay" area of Churchgate . Do not park in an area designated for disabled parking. You will have 20 minutes to unload your vehical. Staff will then advise you where to park for the evening. We advise you to make up a sign saying "LOADING FOR SUN BAR" and to place this on your dashboard.
Band Equipment
DRUMKIT
There is NO house kit at the Sun Bar. If we book a band it is a condition of booking that the band will bring a full drum kit with them.
However, if your band agrees to share drum kit of another band that is fine and in fact it helps us because space in the Sun Bar is tight and five drum kits would in fact take up a great deal of space. So, please contact the other bands and ask if you can share kit.
If a band is borrowing any kind of equipment from another band, please show your appreciation by offering to buy them a drink or two!!
PA and Sound Engineering
The venue does not have a permanently installed sound system. A contractor will bring in a sound system each night. This will not usually include monitors, so your band must be happy about playing without them. If you intend to use specialised equipment, like synths or keyboards, that might require special leads and jacks, please let the organisers know about this well in advance.
Record Label A&R Reps
Bands might like to know that at some shows, representatives of record labels will be present to hear the bands. This will not happen at every gig but we will be inviting reps to be there.
Photography
We will try to arrange for a photographer to be present at each gig to take photos of most of the bands when they perform. Often, these photos will be available free of charge for the bands to use. We will be here to help you
Members of the Arts in Leicestershire team will be at the venue to greet your band on arrival and to help you get ready for the show.
Reviews and publicity
Bands that play at our gig will benefit from publicity on our Sun Bar web site and being listed in our Leicester Rock Gigs page (which gets a lot of visits). In addition, if your band plays a really good set, we might write a review for our web site and other outlets.
Have a really good gig
We hope your band will have a really good night at the Sun and will be one of the many bands who have enjoyed playing at this great venue. Back to the main Sun Bar Page |
